Russia’s Chukotka gold output falls 14% to 11.8 tns in Jan–Jun

ANADYR, Jul 11 (PRIME) -- Gold production on Russia’s Chukotka peninsula decreased 14.34% on the year to 11.795 tonnes in January–June, a spokesperson for the regional industry policy, construction, and housing and utilities department told PRIME on Tuesday.

Silver production in the area fell 21.71% to 64.709 tonnes in the period.

Chukotka Mining and Geological Company, a unit of Kinross Gold, produced 4.775 tonnes of gold, down 10% on the year, and 54.726 tonnes of silver, down 19.8% on the year, at its Kupol deposit.

Gold production of Severnoye Zoloto, Kinross Gold’s affiliate that develops the Dvoinoye deposit, fell 28.56% to 3.717 tonnes, and silver production decreased 30.8% to 6.331 tonnes.

Output of gold concentrate at the Maiskoye deposit, developed by Polymetal’s unit, rose 11.28% to 1.811 tonnes.

Output of Rudnik Karalveyem, owned by Israeli businessman Lev Leviev, fell 15.66% to 675.8 kilograms and silver production decreased to 84.377 kilograms.

Valunisty Mine, controlled by Russian billionaire businessman Roman Abramovich’s Millhouse Group, decreased gold output by 1.1% to 417.533 kilograms and silver output by 13.9% to 3.579 tonnes.
